Water is the most critical factor in human body functions. The body can survive on only water for almost two months. The water taken in should be pure and free of any toxins brought in through soil passages. Children and infants are sensitive to the chemicals in water and can bring on illnesses. Effects of Arsenic in Drinking Water

Nitrate can inhibit the infant’s ability to carry oxygen through the body. It is a rapid forming disease that only takes days to become a severe health issue. EPA has a set standard for nitrate allowed in water set at 1ppm in drinking water. This is a safe amount that will leave no harm to infants or adults.
 

Effects of Coliform in Drinking Water

A coliform is a group of bacteria or pathogens that can be present in water. The most common found form of total coliform is E.coli. E.coli is a bacteria that is present in the intestines in humans and animals. Also, often seen in the feces of humans and animals. The risks of E.coli in a young child is not always toxic, but with E.coli, there is a possibility that other diseases causing bacteria are present along with the E.coli. These are what can be dangerous to the kidney and create complications. Children 5 years and under are most susceptible to the different bacteria that can be present with E.coli.

Effects of Manganese in Drinking Water 

 
Manganese found in rocks and sediments in the soil in both ground and surface water. People who have had long term excessive consumption have neurological side effects. If manganese consumption starts young, there could be developmental issues in the learning and behavioral patterns. Indicators of manganese look like stained laundry, scaling in plumbing fixtures, and have an odor. Tap water tested through a public health service. Manganese does not need testing, so indicators are vital to getting the water tested.

Effects of Lead in Drinking Water 

 
Lead is common found in soil and different sediments. When acidic water is low in minerals, lead the water through plumbing fixtures. The way lead makes its way into water through plumbing fixtures when the water has high acidity or low mineral matter. Lead poisoning can occur faster in children since their size is smaller. Children who have lead in their bodies can have anemia, hearing issues, slowed growth, and behavioral/learning problems.
